We are entering a period in which the art market is once again gaining momentum. Following a brief downturn in the aftermath of the post-pandemic period, we are now seeing positive trends and strong results across the market.
Particularly noteworthy is the comeback of the Old Masters category, with both New York and Hong Kong achieving hammer prices far above estimates. London is showing the same tendency, underscoring a growing international demand for works with historical significance and strong provenance.
At the same time, prints and ceramics are taking on a more central role. Several auction houses have achieved record-breaking results within these media, including Rago Arts and Auction Center in New Jersey and Los Angeles Modern Auctions, where curated sales of Picasso ceramics resulted in numerous hammer prices exceeding estimates.
The development is also evident in the Nordic region. At Bruun Rasmussen, a ceramic Picador (A.R. 162) was recently sold for double its estimate, while Blomqvist and Stockholms Auktionsverk are following the same trend. The latter’s “The Prints & Editions Sale” featured remarkable hammer prices for works by Chagall, Matisse, Miró, Warhol, and Picasso, further highlighting the growing interest in craftsmanship, editions, and graphic works.
At Out Of Art, we are committed to making art more accessible. That is why we carefully curate works that remain art historically relevant and attractive, while staying within a price range that allows more people to begin a collection.
